1) Meet Ryan at Tropicana to pick up the BMC Italy air filter;
2) Meet Geek at Kota Damansara to send him the Kawasaki windscreen;
3) Install the Akrapovic dB killer and BMC air filter.
The BMC Italy air filter looked identical to DNA, only that the colour was red. It was made in Italy and came with a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase. Good stuff!
Ryan used to be a Ninja 650R biker too, and has since moved on to Versys 650. He explained that the Versys' riding position was more comfortable for long-distance riding, and his brother and friend also rode the Versys. Three's not a crowd here, three's a convoy. It was supposed to be a quick pick-up but as Ryan was a really swell kind of biker whom loved to share his experiences, we ended up chatting for an hour or more.
He complimented the Ninja 650R as a very flickable bike (he bought his 2010 Ninja 650R CKD used at RM30k, installed steel-braided hoses and EBC brake pads, used it for a year before trading it at a bike shop at RM23k for the Versys 650) and showed me some sleek cornering moves; which I started practicing on my way back. I'm glad I dealt with Ryan- it's another sale-turned-friend scenario. Good meeting you, bro!
Next, I dropped by Geek's house to send him the windscreen; as he had wanted to collect it for a few nights now but had been held back by the constant rain. It was great catching up with him and to check out the Racing Boy clip-on handles that he recently installed. He was still trouble-shooting the clearance issues so he can't yet make u-turns at this point in time. Best to choose your route carefully then so as to avoid u-turns, bro :)
I wanted to install the air filter at Kangkang but the shop was packed. So the seat came off, the tools came out, and it was adventure time to get the petrol tank off so that the BMC air filter could do its stuff to further increase the Green Hornet's performances. This was still on-going even as I type. The supplied BMC sticker was the easy bit though. Alto took the chance to tighten the rear suspension to the highest level.
The installation of the dB killer on the Akrapovic was a breeze though.The exhaust notes were immediately less boomy amd bassy.
Keep your eyes peeled at this space, for the OTR review of the BMC Italy air filter.
