An Introduction on Benelli Keeway's Presence in Malaysia
Benelli Keeway Motorcycles Sdn Bhd, with its partner, QianJiang Group of China (QJ), has launched two new motorcycle brands in the Malaysian market - Benelli and Keeway - with a line-up of five motorcycles for consumers to choose from. Both these brands have European origins, though they have both been acquired by QJ in recent years.
The Keeway brand was founded 13 years ago, and its trademark is registered in the European Union. Its worldwide reach totals up to 100 countries, and its range of motorcycles vary from 50 to 600cc. Its catalog of products also includes all-terrain and electric vehicles. All Keeway products are manufactured in Wenling, China.
Benelli has a bit more history, being established in 1911 in Pesaro, Italy, where its R&D operations continue to function. The company was acquired by QJ in 2005, and it has since been known as Benelli Q.J.
In Malaysia, Benelli Keeway Motorcycles Sdn Bhd (BKM) was established in November 2010, and the company possesses the license to assemble motorcycles and ATVs displacing in excess of 200cc. BKM's facility in Bukit Beruntung sits on a plot of land spanning 109,644 sq ft. The factory's first phase boasts a built-up area of 28,000 sq ft.
For its Malaysian debut, BKM has launched five new models, namely the Benelli TRe1130K, Benelli TnT899, Keeway Dorado 250, Keeway TX200G, and Keeway RKV200G. According to Chief Executive Officer, Mr On Hai Swee, a total of nine model launches have been planned for this year.
"We are also planning to open our flagship concept store in Kuala Lumpur sometime this September. The showroom cum service centre will carry our strong branding and visual identity, to provide the best attention and support to our valued dealers and customers. This will help the market to appreciate our brands better," he said.
All BKM products will be available from motorcycle dealers throughout the nation. The motorcycles come with a one year warranty and free servicing (terms and conditions apply) up to 10,000km with Bike Assist for owner's hot line number 1800-88-3811.
