Imagine my surprise when I received an sms from a chap whom has previously arranged to see my bike (but I had to turn him down as the first person whom saw the bike had verbally confirmed that he would take the bike and thereafter followed through with a downpayment), that there was another Tuono in the market.
I quickly followed the link that he sent me @ http://www.mudah.my/Aprilia+RS+125+Tuono+buatan+Itali-22724453.htm; and true enough, it was an Aprilia Tuono in standard form.
From the pictures, it still has the Mickey Mouse-like side mirrors and indicators, and single can exhaust. Since the seller is from Damansara Heights and quite near to my location, I have sent him an e-mail to see if I could get him to meet-up and perhaps take some pictures of these twin brothers bikes together. 2 Italian-made bikes having travelled 10,456 km, and meeting together in KL. Heck, they probably saw each other while being assembled in Aprilia's factory many years back.
Crossing my fingers for the nice photo shoot that I could envisioned when these 2 bikes get together.
ReplyDeleteHi Ismadi, yes, I noticed that the advert is no longer on Mudah. And nope, no reply from the seller to my earlier e-mail. Maybe he's only keen on selling and is too busy to catch up with other bikers, especially now that it's almost Raya.
DeleteAku tak faham ngan moto Itali, mahal giler tapi apa kurangnya moto Jepun? Moto Jepun harga murah, spare part berlambak kat Sentul, yang naik pun banyak giler. Tengok ER6, semorang ada satu bijik, baik kat kampung atau bandar.
ReplyDeleteMoto Itali ni selalu dengar pasal masalah wiring moto stok, perlu dibuat semula kat pakar wiring tempatan baru ok. Itupun beratus-ratus ringgit upahnya. Baik beli moto Jepun semua.
Mungkin korang suka moto Itali sebab eksklusif, kot? Tapi memang yang kaya-raya baru pakai moto Itali.
Hi Anonymous, it's the same like cars. Some people buy Alfa Romeo, but a Toyota would have served the same purpose if it's only for transportation plus the spare parts would probably be cheaper and easier to get. But there are such enthusiasts anyhow.
DeleteOr perhaps let's take jeans for an example. You probably wear Levis, but a pair of GA Blue would be much cheaper and serves the same purpose.
Or what about McChicken and Ramly Ayam Special?
End of the day, it all boils down to passion and choices. We whom use Italian rides may not necessarily be rich (since we use the monies for repairs and spare parts ;p), but I like to think that we are rich in passion, experiences and brotherhood.
If you don't get it, you just won't get it, mate!
Well said. Those ignorance fools don't know our passion.
DeleteHi there, I am a newbie in this big bike field. I just had my B full license 2 months back, after riding a small cub for 2 years. My question is, what motorcycle will you recommend to me? Budget is below 40K. I used to train on the 2010's version er6-n, but I don't really like it, because my leg can feel the hot engine heat whenever the bike stop moving. So far the bike that I have in my mind is the Benelli TNT600, Kawasaki ER6f, Yamaha XJ6, and perhaps the new er6n? But sadly none of them come with ABS. I really wonder why there's so less bike that come into Malaysia with ABS.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Sam
If you are worried about feeling hot air on your legs when you are straddling the bike in non-moving traffic, then the only bikes that I would recommend you are...
Deletemopeds/small bikes.
Try to get a bike with displacement below 250cc so that the heat generated would be lesser. When I rode my Ninja 650R and my Tuono, it was without doubts that the Tuono was less hot given its smaller displacement. That's why big displacement bikes are more suitable for long-distance riding only while the small displacement bikes could tackle both short- and long-riding. Ask any superbikers and more probably than not, they would own a smaller bike for town-riding.
If you still want a big bike but want to feel less heat creeping up your thigh, get a faired bike (which would rule out the Tornado 600, ER6N and XJ6 from your list) like the Ninja 650R or Diversion. The fairing would help to keep all the heat from getting to you during stops.
If you are interested in "less heat" and "ABS" in the same bike, then just get for yourself a Duke 200 ABS. It's a 200cc so not so hot, and ABS. Or wait for the Duke 390 ABS to hit Malaysian shores.
Irregardless, good luck choosing your bikes!
Any readers managed to get in touch with the previous seller, or if the new buyer is reading this blog, would appreciate if you could be in touch. Thank you.
